SOUTH DEVON VIP ASSOCIATION
INTRODUCTION.
South Devon VIP Association was formed in 1997 by a group of blind and visually impaired people to provide activities, share information and raise public awareness of the needs of blind and visually impaired people.
From discussions
amongst members of the association it became apparent that there were many
charities and businesses providing services to blind and visually impaired
people. Some of these were household names others appeared to be known only to their supporters and clients.
However, there was no single publication that could be used as a reference by blind and visually impaired people. Members of South
Devon VIP association collected information from the sources listed at the back of this directory and from personal experience to share with blind and visually impaired colleagues.
From that collected information and with the help of a grant from the Millennium Festival Awards for all Committee, South Devon VIP association is now able to produce this Directory, not only for members of the association but also for anyone connected with blind and visually impaired people.
Some of these services are provided specifically for blind and visually impaired people, others are provided by those who are making their own services accessible by using Braille, audio tape, large print or computer
disk.
This directory is also available in larger print, tape, Braille and computer disk and from our website at
www.bluefury.freeserv.co.uk
